Subterranean fuzz rocking horn blowers DOWNTOWN BOYS are bringing their crass-with-sass sonic attack to JP on Thursday night. Their bilingual, politico-dance punk comes wrapped in waves of distortion and snarling attitude. The smooth sax licks bring a little levity to the proceedings amid the group-shouted f-bombs and spastic drums.
Also coming up the coast with DOWNTOWN BOYS is eastern-tinged pop rockers, HARD NIPS. They’ve got pop chops to spare but are happy to spend time coloring outside the lines with psych-driven, wailing guitar solos and spooky driving riffs. For local support we have our own politically-charged dance outfit, NO SIR I WON’T. They’ve boast a perfect back and forth between their singers and a tight, plodding rhythm section that lays a great base for the guitars to soar and screech all over. ANCIENT FILTH will be rounding out the bill with high-energy, rage-inducing fury. Their frantic fast beats with scorching chords give way to devastating breakdowns that whiplash back into frenzied explosions of anger and frustration. From a thinking person’s dance punk to cathartic fist-pumpers, JP’s got it all tonight.
