DECEMBER COMPASS: Notes From The Crew

Our Space>Outer Space+2017 Recap

Our org is like a funky mushroom bunch at the base of a great oak, a dynamic growth that keeps coming back every year without fail. This amorphous mass is a beautiful, living thing, and like other fungi, much of our magical development is hidden underground. So, in our 5th year as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, I am excited to announce that we are about to ramp up that growth rate and really get our spores in order with the opening of our very own space in January 2018.  Details will be revealed soon, but you gorgeous donors (via the Telethon Space Fundraiser and bostonhassle.com/donate) already know. Thanks for the support! We love ya!

In addition to the space hunt we kept busy this year with many projects, new and old. We sold out both days of our 9th Hassle Fest. We hosted our first annual YES Fest with GRCB, BTC, YCCA and Zumix in which 250+ Greater Boston teens and 80+ adults participated. It was our first grant-funded year which made possible our 10th Boston Underground Summit, bringing the likes of Xiu Xiu and Lydia Lunch to town and raising $1,500 for Girls Rock Camp and BAGLY (LGBTQ youth org) with an outdoor festival. And this month we will host our first (of many) proper art shows for a pop-up party at the Garment District (12/14) celebrating the twelve Compass header artists of 2017. We did more, too; I’m just out of room. Read the rest of the recap at BostonHassle.com and as always thanks for picking up the rag!
