Dan Shea was born in Dorchester, and grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts in Weymouth, MA (the same town Seige is from). He was and is in punk bands, and pop bands and other kinds of bands. He used to run a show house called the HOSS, and now he writes for, and does other things for the Boston Hassle website, Boston Compass newspaper and its mother organization, the Boston Hassle arts organization. He continues to pursue the opening of an artistically free and inspiring performance space in the Boston area. He made too many lists.
This is sooooooo late to the game that it’s kind of ridiculous.
If you can get past that though you’ll find an un-ordered list of the records that really got me in the last year’s time.
I wanted to write words about each one and all that, but I ran out of time, biting off more list-wise than I could possibly chew.
Read about/listen to: MY FAVORITE BOSTON & NEW ENGLAND RECORDS of 2013
I separated that list and this list out so as to emphasize the Boston & New England artists.
If I was only doing one list (probably should have, eh?) it would be some cross pollination of this and that because
certainly many of my absolute favorite records from last year were made in and by New England.
But who cares? That’s not what happened.
Anyway, here’s my favorite records from 2013 that weren’t made by artists living in New England.
