In need of a good dose of garage punk tonight? O’Briens has the perfect prescription. So get out to Allston, grab a beer and revel in the auditory debauchery.
Originally formed in Boston, but now residing in their home base of Philly, COMMUNITY SERVICE add a nice variety of ska-infused anarchy to the lineup. This band is sure to hit Boston with the same intensity that can be found on each track of their most recent demo J-a.w/n. Then brace yourself for the scuzz-fuzzed out riffs coming from NICE GUYS. These dudes have the particular too-stoned sound that could only be produced after finding yourself locked in a grungy basement with nothing but instruments after one too many bong hits. Staying with the frentic flow of things, IDIOT GENES will turn it up with a sound that’s best described as sloppy garage rock meets overindulgence, in the best of ways. Their recent batch of tunes off of Lousey are sure to make the perfect accompaniment to a night of grime or even the sunniest of hangover filled days. Rounding it all out, VUNDABAR bring a melodic side of things to the lineup while still maintaining a certain intriguing edge to them. From the sound of their first full length, Antics, this group is the icing on the cake of a night best described as not to be missed. Boasting enough cracked out hooks to bleed out into the streets this show is bound to attract a crowd, so do yourself a favor and get your ass down to O’Brien’s right away.
