Fringe pop babies BIRD NAMES are no strangers to our town and every time they come back there are more and more kids who have been turned on to their gleeful and irregular pop tuneage, as they freakin’ should be. This Athens GA via Chicago IL amorphous band of music makers have been at it for years, always delivering something different and intriguing far beyond the average expectations of a modern rock band. In fact Bird Names have set some kind of joyous weirdo-pop bar that many try to clear but few can even limbo. They are pretty high up in the clouds indeed with shimmering psychedelic noise and instruments posing as toys but they always manage to keep grounded enough in catchy melodies and sweet grooves to be accessible to anyone lucky enough to come across their offerings. We dare you to try a taste, you will surely be back for more. Whether they are old friends/favorites or you are just looking for something new to fill that empty place in your heart don’t miss Bird Names return to Bostonia this Saturday at 3 Wave Jump in Allston! Get pumped up on these choice cuts from their latest LP METABOLISM out now on Northern Spy Records.
