Four bands converge on this cozy pizza bar for a wet and wild Wednesday. CHALK TALK come from Amherst spouting some jangly pop to shake your rump, complicated by surfy shifts in momentum. OSHWA are up from Chicago to share their quiet plucked melodies and fluttering chopped pop, featuring acrobatic vocal harmonies and intricate sparse instrumentation a la Dirty Projectors or Ava Luna. Boston’s MAURA rush headfirst with straight pop rock rippers and an open, bleeding heart. New band MASK OUT, featuring members of Sneeze, The Clippers and Bedroom Eyes, probably rock pretty hard – who knows, they’re new! And don’t dare underestimate CULT & LEPER, those hi-flying prog rock demons with slick synth grooves and a wry, knowing smile.
