Tonight, get to O’Brien’s Pub for a night of some of Allston’s inventive pop sounds, presented by AS BUILT . Palm Spring Life, a trio of Allston-dwelling Boston University students of self-described “proto-postinternet bop,” takes the headliner honor on the bill. In their first recorded release, “Sea Monkeys,” the group perfectly marries the staples of lo-fi surf with ethereal, wobbling guitar and flourishing harmony. In support, Brooklyn residents Of Clocks and Clouds juggle a number of sounds, presenting an unlikely pairing of experimental synth pop and garage-y blues. The bill also promises Hard Shrugs, or a newer version of the jangle-y power pop trio that features 2/3 of its original members, and MAP, local ambient rock that toys with surf’s summery ease.
