What a surprise! BUFU Records and B.O.W. Shows are back with yet another great show TONIGHT in Jamaica Plain. This one is a real ear squelcher. BLACKIE is up from Texas whipping up a mind-swirling mix of durty southern rap, unusual instrumentation and a heavy dose of blistering noise. A truly experimental, somewhat abrasive musician, BLACKIE blurs boundaries between disparate styles that resists succinct description – expect only for his set to be LOUD. Fans of Death Grips should take note. Touring with him is LIMB making loopy sample and drum-based pop grooves with a refreshing peppering of breakbeats. Holding it down for Boston are two Hassle favorites: TSONS OF TSUNAMI return to the surf rock roots of Dick Dale, but with a gnarly raw edge and bombastic style you gotta see to believe. DESIGNER has a penchant for vicious yet danceable noise-funk like a punch in the gut and a kiss on the cheek. What more could you ask for from a show than some raucous weirdos giving it their all?
