If you haven’t yet heard, Jamaica Plain has a pretty sweet music scene. Seems everyone from toddlers to old timers carries an instrument in hand and a beat in their step. So its no surprise that the Aviary Gallery plays host TONIGHT to a heart-warming, mellow show of (mostly) locals. Brendan Wood, member of Debo Band, Devil Music, and all-around ‘man about town’ goes solo tonight with dreamy lap steel guitar. Prodigious sonic experimenteurs ARKM Foam (BANG! BROS., Peace, Loving) and Angela Sawyer (Weirdo Records, Exusamwa, Duck That) surprisingly have never performed together – until tonight! They’ll tickle you raw with their improvised exotica. Frank Hurricane’s old NYC bud RAMBLE TAMBLE goes easy on the electic japanjo, accompanied by cellist MONA ASSAYOG. And to start it all off, local nice guys Kung-Fu Charlie and Scott Mizrachi join forces for SATAGRAHA, ‘pillow waves’ of soothing pastoral drone vibrations. So come hang loose tonight in JP with these chill pillars – you know you want to.
