Minnie, Rusty and Crook Kid Coathanger are peeling into town today with their signature sophisticated grime in tow. Thanks to Bowery Boston, you can head over to Great Scott tonight and catch Atlanta’s reigning garage queens as they perform Suck My Shirt, their fourth and tightest effort to date. (Pro tip: Pick up a vinyl copy over at Suicide Squeeze. They’re sold out of their tour copies.) Formed over seven years ago in Atlanta by four girlfriends who admittedly couldn’t play any instruments and just wanted to play for fun at parties, the Coathangers have evolved into a refined force of controlled chaos. With a penchant for raucous live shows full of catchy melodies, guitar hooks that make you see squiggly lines in the atmosphere, and lots of tequila, the Coathangers are a must see.
On tour with the femme fatales are Fullerton California’s Audacity. The lo-fi punk mainstays formerly known as Nontoxic, the Plaid, and the Attachments are always a good time. If you subscribe to the happy-go-scuzzy cult of Burger Records, you’ll love these plucky li’l dudes. Their third full-length, Butter Knife, also out now via Suicide Squeeze, can be heard here.
