Boston is the place for all things noisy and psychedelic these days. To prove my point, Boston Hassle (THAT’S THE WEBSITE YOU’RE READING) is bringing a saliva-inducing line-up to Allston tonight, satisfying all your cracked musical needs.

Allston’s GUERILLA TOSS will be headlining. This frenetic 5-piece stands out among no-wave bands for their intricate compositions and complex, sometimes grooving, rhythms brought together in a kaleidoscopic swirl of guitars and synths, drums and shrieks. Their recent sophomore album, GAY DISCO, released on NNA TAPES, follows on their equally awesome debut GORILLA TOSS, which caught people’s attention a little while back when it was released on avant-garde composer and saxophonist John Zorn’s notorious label TZADIK. Things will probably devolve into animalistic frenzy when these gangstas hit the stage.

GTOSS will be joined by Brooklyn-based psych-gurus CLOUD BECOMES YOUR HAND, whose broad and playful sonic palette features everything from synths, guitars and warbly vocals to strings and who-knows-what. They sometimes evoke the sonic experiments of early Animal Collective, but always stay rooted in a sound all their own. This is the release show for their newest LP, ROCKS OR CAKES, available in digital and CD from NORTHERN SPY RECORDS and vinyl from Northampton’s FEEDING TUBE RECORDS.

Also playing will be THE FLAMING DRAGONS OF MIDDLE-EARTH, hailing from Turner Falls, out in the distant reaches of the Pioneer Valley. This amorphous rock ensemble with no shortage of a sense of humor, puts stumbling rhythms and throaty vocals front-and-center. They’re something like a three-way lovechild between The Shaggs, Captain Beefheart and The Gerogerigegege. Their newest release is a SPLIT CASSETTE with GTOSS, also on FEEDING TUBE!
