Well here we go – its that time of the year again. Spring is in the air, and the Whitehaus Family, that sprawling JP network of musicians, artists and friends, is back with their annual celebration BLASTFEST. This year marks the 7th anniversary, with a whole week of shows to ring in the warming season.
The Blast-ivities begin TONIGHT at Aviary Gallery in the verdant Jamaica Plain with a gaggle of diverse merry-makers hocking sweet far out sounds for the friendly ear. Singer-songwriter CHARLOTTE CORNFIELD is down from Toronto to serenade with a barbed, pointed tongue and bluesy pop ballads that feeds the soul. Bird lover freaks DUCK THAT ruffles some feathers with twisted bird calls and webbed sound collage. New Jersey’s Adam Finchler unravels some plain-spoken, humor-tinged folk tunes, while haus bands The Stoo-ooges and Soft Jaw jamble on with a smile and a sparkle.
Sets will be relatively short, so get there early, and be sure to stop by La Casa Blanca afterwards for a special blast of hoot, shrymprov style. Happy spring ya’ll!
