June 10th-11th: The Motherlode Electronic Music Gathering @Some ‘Ting Nice (Somerville, 6/10) and Cambridge Elks Lodge (6/11)…*A Boston Hassle Joint Effort*

This five day blowout in Peterborough, NH features a smorgasbord of unique, underground, DIY talent from all across the creative and geographical spectrum. Organized by The Glass Museum, a 501(c)3 non-profit that curates “diverse and distinct music and art events, selecting nationally regarded artists, and bringing them into our community in affordable and accessible ways” and hosted by stellar alternative venues like Toadstool Bookshop, Peterborough Public Library, and the Unitarian Church, The Thing in the Spring dabbles in all manner of eclectic exposé. It’s almost criminal not to list EVERYTHING, but highlights include Palehound and Kindling at the public library on 6/7, Home Body at Toadstool on 6/8, David Lynch’s Eraserhead at the Community Theatre on 6/9, and Mal Devisa at UU Church on 6/10. Plus there’s poetry readings w/live classical accompaniment EVERY DAY, and Broke! The Affordable Arts fair w/over 50 artists selling original work for $50 and under. Let me catch my breath….OK, not convinced? No car? Not a fan of trees and fresh air? TOTALLY COOL— just hang with the localz and hit up the Hassle’s 2 day Motherlode electronic fest, featuring so much national and international talent it would be a fool’s errand to try and include the full lineup here. A mere sampling of the tyrannical temptations on the menu include Squelcher, Container (PVD), Isabella Koen, Bookworms (NYC), Giant Claw (OH), M. Geddes Gengras (LA), and Foodman (Japan). Dissect the guts of this rag for a complete list of all the empirical, experimental electronic emulations we’ve amassed for your eardrums.
