Perpetual purveyors of all that is unclassifiable and innovative in the bold frontiers of music, Non-Event returns to Washington Street Arts Center in Somerville to host prolific and industrious Italian musician and organizer ATTILA FARAVELLI. With an extensive and wide-ranging cv, including curation of ‘Lift’ experimental music series and the ‘Aural Tools’ project, which involves using simple objects to document musicians unique sonic process, Faravelli clearly comes from a strongly conceptual background. Faravelli seems to specialize in isolating and highlighting the acoustic qualities of found sounds, using repetition and multiple speakers to observe how a sound ‘propigates’ in time and space. He’s joined by local heavyweights VIC RAWLINGS – who pushes the cello beyond recognition with a visceral eruption of starkly procesed strings – and electro-acoustic obscurer JAKE MEGINSKY, collaborating together on something surely wicked and unpredicatble. So clean out that ear wax and let these cerebral freaks fill you with something truly new.
