Fresh from her newest book, “Melting Away”, Camille Seaman visits 555 Gallery with her adventures of documenting the arctic. Her photography captures the changing landscape over a decade in Earth’s polar regions, ice caps gradually shrinking and the waters rising. But what she really wants to capture is the hope of what we still have to preserve, what humans can still do before the icebergs disappear. As a female artist of color, Seaman sees her Native American background as an influence to the context and aesthetic to her work. Her photography has been in national publications such as National Geographic, New York Times Sunday magazine, Time, and many others throughout her career. This is a must see free event for anyone interested in the future of the polar regions and documentation as fine art.
