Who says nerds don’t know how to have fun? MIT’s fantastic independent radio station WMBR hosts a series of concerts under the AMPERSAND moniker, covering a variety of curious genres. TONIGHT they delve deep into psychedelic soundscapes and ambient drone zones with a pair of mind-melting locals. Travel through sparkling astral planes with kosmiche psychonaut duo TWIGHLIGHT TIPI, featuring Kris Thompson (of Prefab Messiahs) playing theramin and sythns with Rob Byrd manipulating processed guitar. They’ll pair nicely with ANDREW TOMASELLO, who generates whispy, crackling drones that swell with static and field recordings for a calming, pastoral experience. Check out our review of his new album – its a slow burner that offers rich rewards for the patient listener.
If you are in the mood for a calming, cerebrum tickling experience, get on out to the List Visual Arts Center at MIT, and rub elbows with brainy bunch.
