ALLSTON DIY FEST 2013 @ RINGER PARK

by

ITS BACK! Many thought it would never happen again, others tried desperately to strangle it in its sleep, but NO- Allston DIY Fest lives on.

Now its its third installment, this outdoor gathering at the beautifully scrubby Ringer Park brings together artists, musicians, jean jackets, flower dresses and friendly faces – united in the celebration of the Do-It-Yourself ethos. With the entrenched structures embedded in our economy and government perpetuating a purely consumer culture, passionate individuals (like you and me) must get together to combat this silent, prevalent force with an overwhelming desire to create and share.

Whether it be learning to build and maintain a bicycle (an apt symbol of DIY self-propulsion), sewing clothing, crafting a piece of art or what have you, its healthy and important to balance your consumption with some self-production.

Come learn a thing or two at the many workshops, see the many wonderful wares hocked by local artists, and hear some beautiful, amazing sounds from many of Boston’s best musicians. Performers include members of Pile and Kal Marks playing rare acoustic sets, as well as beach bummers SARALEE, sloppy punks SNEEZE, noise freaks N.E. Patriots, the sweet ragtime sounds of DIRTY DIRGES and many MANY more.

Get the full low down HERE, or just get over to the fest, happening RIGHT NOW! Don’t forget to bring some lunch a blanket.
