(5/9 – 5/25) BOSTON INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL @MFA

by

Parent ALERT! Parent ALERT! I know you’ve got a lot on your plate. You’ve got worries, concerns…children. So let me add another worry to that pile. Think about that endless stream of dreck that funnels through various television and computer screens directly into your darlings’ brains. Your babies are soaking in an artistic MONOCULTURE.

Happily, a liberal cabal of NY and Boston Art Folk have come up with the antidote. Behold as The BOSTON MUSEUM of FINE ARTS presents The BOSTON (and new york) INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL. Not to be outdone bythe ICA, the MFA brings to you a smorgasbord of culturally diverse films from around the globe. There’s Uruguay’s animated ANINA which follows two schoolgirls whose Principal fashions an interesting punishment for their misbehavin’. France’s animated JACK and THE CUCKOO-CLOCK HEART which tells a similar story to Disney’s recent ‘Frozen’ but perhaps with more European sensibilities. Making a date to see Latvia’s MOTHER, I LOVE YOU just might be a perfect gift for upcoming Mother’s Day. This live-action film follows in East European tradition to tell a cautionary tale about the trouble lying can land you in. And don’t forget the collections of short films; spooky for the older kids, and silly for the tots.

(5/9 – 5/25) various times // MFA: Remis Auditorium, 161 // $10
