BAM! Cheap Seats are back for their 9th and very special editions TONIGHT at the Cambridge YMCA in Central Square. For those new to the game, Cheap Seats consists of myriad musical performers of all varieties – quiet folk strumming, experimental electronics, full rock bands and so forth – as well performance artists, spoken word weirdos and the like, all performing hyper-quick 5-10 minute sets. The trick is, there is no ‘stage’ and the performers are the audience and the audience is a performer, etc. Hence ALL seats are the ‘cheap seats.’ This iteration is especially special as it also serves as the opening ceremonies of the 2013 National Poetry Slam. That’s right – wicked wordsmiths and rhyme dealers from around the country will be turning phrases and spinning minds amongst the cacophony. Are you turned on yet?
