(2/19) ABIGAIL CHILD @MASSART

by

Western, Noir, Romance, Drama — all woven loosely together through the iconic music of Ennio Morricone. This is what you can expect to see TONIGHT as the MassArt Film Society welcomes legendary local experimental filmmaker Abigail Child, Chair of Film and Animation Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

First up is DARK DARK (2001), A 16mm genre-bender that melds together four found story fragments inviting the viewer to arrive at their own conclusions through the meshing of Child’s innovative edits. The evening concludes with her most recent work UNBOUND (2013), a series of fictionalized home movies depicting scenes from the life of Mary and Percy Shelley. Shot on location while residing at the American Academy in Rome, Child cast non-actors against the backdrop of stunning Italian architecture and landscapes, where the Shelleys lived in exile for six of their eight years together. Be sure to stick around after tonight’s screenings for a special Q&A with Abigail!
