Looking to get your fill of the supernatural with a side of devil worship but are sick of the found footage Paranormal Activity scene? Then head on down to the Brattle this weekend to check out Adrian Garcia Bogliano’s HERE COMES THE DEVIL. It’s not a sequel to 2010’s fantastic I SAW THE DEVIL, though I hear there is a remake of that coming, so that’s a shame. HERE COMES THE DEVIL starts with a simple enough nightmare scenario of parents losing their children during an adventure along a cave-riddled mountainside. When the children reappear the next morning seemingly unscathed, the real nightmare begins as the kids start exhibiting bizarre behavior. The parents hear of an evil legend that once haunted those hills and realize it may have followed them home. HERE COMES THE DEVIL already cleaned up at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX last fall, earning awards for best actor, actress, screenplay, director and best picture. They screen a lot of of the year’s best in terms of the weird, and the disturbing, so I suppose that’s saying something.
