A fine night at the MIDWAY. By and far amongst the better shows I’ve been to in the area. Boston Hassle hosted locals NICE GUYS, BUTTERCUP, (N.E.) PATS , along with Toronto’s SOUPCANS! Nice Guys smashed right in for a great start. No pits tonight, but in different settings I’ve seen these dudes light off some serious shit. Next Nathan Ventura and Lee Halpin took up the stage as Buttercup, Nathan rocking on a modified guitar (which he had to duck tape halfway through the set), and Lee throwing his floor tom around the stage (the kind of stuff that makes you question why you would pay $40 to get into the Royale). Soupcans banged out a sweet thrash set. Head man for this trio had some crazy vocal lines. Anchoring the show (New England) Patriots: a real riot of a performance. Leader of the gang was doing some berserk stuff, first time I ever saw such a heavy band break out a recorder.
