Under the Underground #1: Representations

7/10 Out of the Blue Too @ 9pm

by

Hollywood might have the money, the distribution, and the star power, but they’re still sorely lacking when it comes to giving voice to the voiceless. In that interest, Boston Hassle has teamed up with Under the Underground to present REPRESENTATIONS, the first in a series of screenings of film and video work by local artists outside the white/male/heterosexual mainstream! Over a dozen local filmmakers and video artists will be showcased, including Christina Koloszvary, Jane Urban, Shirin Mozafarri, and more. As if that weren’t enough, screenings will be followed by musical performances by The Blooms (featuring members of Rosie and the Rosies) and Brittle Brian! (NOTE: Alyssa Kai, who had been scheduled to play, will unfortunately be unable to attend. Fortunately, Brittle Brian is just as awesome!)

Admission will be on a sliding scale of $5 to $10; this screening is a safe space, so please be respectful of the work on display and those around you. For information on some of the filmmakers in the spotlight, click here; for full deets on the event, head on over to the calendar page. In the meantime, check out this totally rad trailer for Koloszvary’s The Astronaut and the Star!
