Spanish auteur Pedro Almodovar is at it again with his latest feature. In a departure from the darker and kinkier (in the most fucked up way) The Skin I Live In, Almodovar delves into the absurdly comic. On a trans-Atlantic flight to Mexico City an airplane encounters mechanical failures which will likely spell doom for all onboard. As the pilots strive to keep the aircraft from crashing, the gay flight attendants up their flamboyance in a desperate attempt to keep the passengers calm. Forget that, as everyone eventually throws sexual inhibitions out the airlock or reveals their true personality. Expect gorgeous use of color and melodramatic excess that cause even Pedro’s average films to have a uniqueness of their own. Viva Almodovar!
