SMASH IT DEAD FEST is once again upon us.

The most ripping punk fest in the land that doubles as a benefit for the BOSTON AREA RAPE CRISIS CENTER is just a week and a half away and you should really be paying attention because this whole 3 day event is really amazing. There’s not many fests that exist solely to raise funds for an organization with a vision as amazingly wonderful as: “to end sexual violence through healing and social change.” Please see below for a 1 minute video about the BARCC.

And get this, you can support the BARCC on a sliding scale on every night of the fest AND see a killer punk show @ the same time. NO BRAINER.

Friday night @ the Cambridge YMCA one of my favorite bands is playing! DOWNTOWN BOYS wanna scramble your brain with some kinda political funpunk that’s fresh and classic @ the same time and will probably make you get all kinds of riled up. And there’s a bunch of other bands playing too! NEONATES, recent Providence transplants from California, an amazing post-punk bunch that I am psyched to finally see live, and FUNERAL CONE and their flagrant post-oi Vanilla Muffins worship are just two!!

Saturday boasts the howling scorched hardcore chaos of San Jose’s PERMANENT RUIN, the garage punk fury of Brooklyn’s SHADY HAWKINS, and the sludgy hardcore blast of SPITTING EARTH and TONS of other bands. There’s also a presentation by the BARCC, a potluck, and readings on this second day of the fest @ The Democracy Center.

Sunday concludes this year’s fest, again @ The Democracy Center, with the heavy hardcore attack of Boston’s own CURMUDGEON and the absolutely instigating punk rock of LEATHER DADDY. So good. There’s also a presentation by SUPPORT BOSTON, and a POC Caucus and discussion.
