If you haven’t heard of Owen Evans’ Phoenix-based project ROAR, check out my review of his most recent album Pathétique Aesthétique. As I said in the review, ROAR’s music is introspective sunburn pop where every note comes across as carefully chosen and right in place. Or as one reviewer put it, “Evans’ sense of emotional movement and dynamic contrast is astounding, allowing him to weave through dark lyrical topics gracefully in what some might consider to be the graceless medium of wall-of-sound pop.”
ROAR will be performing a solo acoustic performance here in Boston (or technically Somerville) on December 27 at the Marshlands (DM ROAR on social media for the address). It is an opportunity that will likely not come around again soon, so definitely get out to the show if you can.
