I’m super-sad.
If I want to go to this festival it’d be $50.
(Or $44.)
That’s a crazy amount of money to many of us music lovers.
AND you’re charging that much for a shitty boring normal pub venue?
Sad.
I thought you guys stood for us indie artists.
Hey Jackie,
How much would you have us charge for this festival??
The fact of the matter is we are charging as little as we possibly can for
Hassle Fest. Did you happen to notice that we are also fundraising for the festival
right now as well? The reason we crowdsource fundraising for the festival is to SUBSIDIZE the cost
of the festival for the festival goers. We exert the TON of effort necessary to run
the fundraiser every year so that we CAN KEEP PRICES AS LOW AS POSSIBLE for the festival goers. I’m sorry
unable to see that, or worse just don’t care.
At $22 or $25 a ticket, even if we sold out the venue for both nights that wouldn’t cover
the cost of all of the bands ($16,000+), the venue($4000), and the artists working to transform the venue into
a cooler environment (for at least one night, $500+).
And as far as the “shitty boring normal pub venue” goes, I’d like to hear from you about the alternative venues
we could use with a similar or larger capacity (just under 500), and that would allow us to make this festival ALL AGES
which is important to us. We spent a good half a year combing the Boston area for a better, cheaper, more suitable venue
without any luck. So please, if you have a solution to our venue problem: we are all ears.
Beyond that, we realize what a boring space the venue is, that’s why we’re doing this:
TRASH LAND (or using recycled materials to create an otherworldly environment) will be the theme of the Hassle Fest 8’s “art environment” .

I’m sorry that the fest is too expensive for you, but we’re trying.
I hope you can appreciate that in some way.
