2018 was righteous when it came down to my artistic career, filled with lots of bliss followed by imposter syndrome.
This past year I was given some great opportunities to play in popular spaces like the Sinclair, ICA, MFA and major cities like NYC, MIA, and Philly. I was included into the collective and monthly party Houseboi which added a second residency under my wing that year, unfortunately my first residency at Brass Union in Somerville which we called “ BRASH “ is no longer happening.
I am a heavy believer that if one door closes, two more open.
When I embarked on my pursuit as an artist, little did I know this journey would ignite a mania to cultivate, diversify and promote a vibrant inclusive scene with various genres of music & different forms of visual art that seem to be otherwise ignored in Boston.
To be really honest at times I do feel overwhelmed, the lack of representation for non white artist in this city slacks a lot and the little to no visibility that we do get can seem performative. Being dragged out to a predominately white state really made me acknowledge the facts of reality, the understanding and comprehension that is the history of America & for that I’m thankful. There is so much work that needs to be done in this city. Regardless I look back at 2018 humbly awaiting whats to come.
