5 questions for Sam Gas Can

Mr. Gas Can plays the Hassle Plague Series stream on 8/2 on the Hassle's Instagram Live

Dan Shea:
Hey Sam! Kinda have to ask… so how has life been during the pandemic??

Sm Gas Can:
I can’t complain, the dungeon keeps me busy!

Who are some of your big musical influences, local, and not???

Like many others, I’ve only been listening to Japanese city-pop lately. My favorites are Taeko Ohnuki, Casiopea, and the Katsumi Horii project. My all-time favorites though are Sun Ra, Kate Bush, and Cat Stevens.

Why’d you choose RAICES Texas as the beneficiary of this upcoming stream’s fundraiser?

Seeking a better life for you and your family should not be a crime. It’s a great movie, but we can’t let this world become “Escape from New York”.

What’s up with Western Mass??

It’s hot in the valley this year! Joshua Burkett has a great new record on his own Mystra imprint. Everyone should pick up the Vanishing DMC cassette from Podunk label, commemorating a fantastic rock band made up of Matt Robidoux, Bob Fay, and the one true Horny Gaga Dog, Danny Monster Cruz.

Why do you make music? And any other parting thoughts?

Sometimes I think I make music just to see if I can actually pull it off, but we all know the real answer is that “music is healing force of the universe”. Nothing else does it quite the same!

100% of donations for stream will go to RAICES Texas.

“RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services)
We provide affirmative, defensive, and litigation services to low-income immigrants.

With more immigration lawyers than any organization in Texas, in 2018 RAICES managed 37,863 cases at no cost to our clients. Without pro-bono legal services most of our clients, including children of all ages, would have to go to court alone, with zero representation. We believe no child should go to court alone.

Our legal services extend from low-cost residency and citizenship services to pro-bono representation for families and children in detention, with service offerings for Residency & Citizenship Services, Asylum Seekers, Removal Defense, DACA, Legal Representation for Family and Children, and more.”
