Just got the chance to see this band last night for the first time, and they are something to be excited about punks. Hardcore punk, with all sorts of idiosyncrasies. The front man is compelling, the beats furious, and the guitar edging toward the weird zone. This is hardcore on the heavier side, incorporating some seriously pummeling breakdowns into its mix. ZIPPERHEAD.

Zipperhead is apparently derogatory slang for an Asian person. I had never heard the term before, but anyway these guys can do what they want with the word because there’s a guy of Korean heritage in the band! Nice. Members of Male Nurses, Flaccid, and The Combat Zone populate ZIPPERHEAD. The band released a demo in 2013, and I think that’s it so far. Sophisto (and a second track with a title written in Korean script that WordPress will not accept!?) are two of the songs from the demo and the only things streaming from it found on the internet. Mid-tempo hardcore that sounds mean and like they like DISCHARGE which is of course fucking fine, especially because they are doing it well. At the show last night they threw some un-punk beats into the mix which created awesome segues between punks charging around the pit and awkward personal gyrations. These guys manage to sound evil and be really fun at the same time. Must see more. Demo on TWERP RECORDS and seemingly long gone. Cat(?) face as penis head?
