XREPENTANCEX – CLEANSING

by

I know what you’re thinking: straight edge vegan hardcore, er, metalcore, can’t be good. And Earth Crisis definitely didn’t set a good precedent but xRepentancex follows up one of last year’s hardest albums with one of the most essential hardcore 7”s of 2016. Cleansing, released on Carry The Weight Records, brings two new tracks with the same hard-hitting fury of The Sickness Of Eden. Heavy riffs. Machine gun vocals. Breakdowns galore. Think of xRepentancex as being somewhere between early aughts Converge and Trapped Under Ice and Day Of Suffering. While the sound is a bit of a throwback, its intensity more than makes up for it. “Fortress” and “Cleansing” are Mosh jams with a capital M. Unfortunately the band called it quits earlier this year, but you can still spinkick your life away with this slab on repeat.
