Will Henriksen – Blue House

by

You may recognize his musical stylings from the solemn melodies of Harmoos, or maybe the poppy sensibilities of Blau Blau. No? Well perhaps from the energetic sounds of CosMc or the creative collaboration of Tiffany’s House, or even from Providence’s Beverly Tender. Will Henriksen’s musical endeavors are endlessly diverse and always excellent, and his latest solo EP, Blue House, is no exception.

Released on Philly’s Sleeper Records on June 29, Blue House ponders both unrelenting thoughts and artfully layered instrumentation. The opening track, “Blue,” features a pleasantly humming cello courtesy of Chelsea Ursin and perfectly subtle drumming by Travis Hagan, both of which help to showcase Henriksen’s simple but striking vocals that do nothing less than transfix.

The following track, “Mumu,” exhibits its bare bones and emotion. Each element of the song is distinguishable from one another, and yet they fuse together effortlessly.

“Heartbeats” has a thundering quality—it’s hard-hitting—but still remains mellow and endearing; one of Henriksen’s musical specialties. The track pulls on the heartstrings, but still demands attention for its more-than-exceptional instrumental parts. And as “Heartbeats” moves into “Guitar,” the final track of the EP, you’re left with yet another beautifully reflective tune.

He’s the musical jack of all trades, and after Blue House, Henriksen proves he’s the master of all.
