Hazy and atmospheric, All Yours by Brooklyn’s Widowspeak seems to capture that feeling of a long lazy summer night. Dream pop with a light touch of country, the whole album breezes by with vocalist Molly Hamilton perfectly channeling Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval. Much like Mazzy, their beautiful sound can be deceiving as many of the song’s lyrics have a soulful melancholy to them. “Stoned” nails that blissful first moment of love “caught in a feeling..and it felt like a velvet” and the come down of an ideal vision “you’ve got me fading and I’v been waiting”. Meanwhile guitarist Robert Earl Thomas provides a sedative dreamscape throughout that’s all too easy to get lost in. Past love is a constant theme here while “Girls” reveals feelings of inadequacy to others but with a wiser acceptance rather than competitiveness. All Yours shows the band growing with some of their best, most accessible songs to date while maintaining that mysterious quality; like their music could evaporate into air at a moment’s notice.
