Went There

Went There: Priests, Dump Him, Gurr @ The Sinclair 4/18/19

by

Local queercore band Dump Him kicked things off. They tore through songs new and old. The last song being so new they never played it before. Gurr came next. They came all the way from Germany just to do this tour with Priests. Gurr’s first two songs started out slower and then things picked up. The next bunch of songs were faster and harder. Each song of their had its own thing going. They said that their drummer is originally from the Boston area so I’m hoping they come back to this area soon.

This was my second time seeing Priests in the last month or two. Between last time and this time they released a new album called The Seduction of Kansas. They did most of the songs from that album including Good Time Charlie, Jesus Son & the title track. Their newer stuff is a bit less screamy than the past. They have evolved into more of a post punk band. Priests have come a long way since I saw them at a church in JP almost 5 years ago. They, but especially Katie always look so stylish up there. I was really hoping that they were gonna play And Breeding because Katie told me they’d play it last time but for some reason The Sinclair staff wasn’t letting them do an encore.
