I saw Le Butcherettes just 3 months ago opening for Death From Above and I loved them so much I just had to see them headlining. First band, Elsewhere, are local Gen X’ers as they put it. They really enjoyed rocking out here at Brighton Music Hall. They played a song about the best year in their lives, 1981, and another song they referred to as a long lost Police song. The singer even sung the song at a higher register trying to emulate Sting. Their last song according to them has gotten some airplay on WAAF.

The next band, Stars At Night sound like what I’d imagine Deep Vally would sound like if they had double the members. For some songs they were more psych-ish for others more punk-ish. They did a hard rockin’ partial cover of Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

Le Butcherettes were great as usual.

They played most of their new album Bi/Mental. It’s a record that expands their already diverse sound. As always Teri switches back and forth from singing in English to Spanish and back. She also switches between playing guitar and keys for different songs. This band should be a lot bigger.

Le Butcherettes setlist:

Dress Off
struggle/STRUGGLE
Nothing/BUT TROUBLE
Stab My Back
