WENT THERE: KEITH FULLERTON WHITMAN @ FRESH AIR ’14

by

Our Fresh Air at Ringer Park show in Allston featured some transcendental vibes to help compliment the sun-drenched, city-park landscape against which it was cast. Modular synthesis maestro Keith Fullerton Whitman was one of many local artists on hand, and his long-form, rhythmic explorations of electronic beauty were smoothly delivered. Layer upon layer of oscillating sound mingled and melded together under Keith’s purposeful direction. A long-time contributor to the electro-acoustic scene in live settings and for labels such as Editions Mego, his set at Ringer Park was perfect for the occasion – a moving yet calming performance. It’s the type of music that makes you appreciate the little, wonderful things that make up your environment. His attention to detail results in organic swoops and holy rhythms that make every aspect of a given piece feel essential. Indulge your eyes and ears in some Keith Fullerton Whitman magic with the clip above!
