Everyone who came to the Whitehaus on the night of May 22nd witnessed a chock-a-block lineup of awesome bands. Squarely in the middle of the evenings bill was Wei Zhongle, an Illinois-based experimental trio comprised of guitarist/vocalist Rob Jacobs, reed player John McCowen, and drummer Sam Klickner. The group delivered the sonic goods, concocting a gumbo of hypnotic, often odd-time grooves, and peppering it with bits of noisy skronk deliciousness. Here they are blazing through two of their tunes, “To Man” and “To Woman.”
