A bit of the ol’ WARTHOG from a little ways back via STATIC SHOCK/TOXIC STATE. The stream of EPs continues for this NYC bunch led by Chris Hansell who was in THE MEN when they were good. The sound is a metal fed hardcore that never stops and does not shy from guitar solos which is important. Warthog have themselves a unique sound among the day’s hardcore bands though. It’s loud and mean, but not noise infested and the recording quality is high. The vocals are even slightly intelligible. WARTHOG lurches with menace through these songs, and generally, and I personally feel like we need a little more menacing lurch in this day and age. Four songs, over in a flash as might be expected. I’ll take what I can get. Awesome artwork by Art by Alexander Heir.
