W00DY – “Recognize (feat. Sadie Norkin)”

W00DY bubbles up, glistening as she emerges from the ever-growing liquid pool of Boston and New England experimental electronic artists. We’re surrounded by so much amazing artistry in the electronic form in these parts that it’s getting harder and harder to bubble up. But there W00DY is, and she’s leading an amazing crop of newer, Boston-area female electronic artists, featuring the likes of COUPLES COUNSELING, BATHAUS, SITTING ADULT, BLOOD CLUB, O JELLY, and JOSS.

It’s great to hear a whole record from W00DY after having seen her play so many times, and having spent some time around her SoundCloud. This first record is called RNBW, and it features sounds from noisy techno to ambient synthscapery onto abstract neo-psychedelic pop groove in the realm of BJORK or PRINCE RAMA. It’s a pretty mesmerizing listening experience. “Recognize,” which features Sadie Northkin, is a weird and wild techno basher that emerges from a deep and enveloping synthesizer cocoon. Odd grooves and droning chants make for a good, weird party. W00DY releases RNBW @ SCANNERS tonight!
