The best music sounds effortless like it already exists and someone just snatched it from the ether. Coming out of Australia, Tyrannamen’s debut is full of this charm as if you’re eavesdropping on the band’s practice as they kill a twenty rack and a Friday night. Opening track “I Can’t Read Your Mind” highlights everything that’s great about the band. Power Pop with a dose of garage and R&B, the melodies are instantly fun and catchy while the shared vocals will have you wanting to sing along before the songs are over. Song titles like “I Don’t Want to Go To Jail” and “ You Should Leave Him for Me” show their sense of humor but “My Concrete” maybe their best about the frustration of a construction crew ruining your sleep.” Who hasn’t experienced this in the city? Let’s hope these guys make it over to America soon.
