The Wolfmanhattan Project — Smells Like You 7″

by

Like garage rock? Like supergroups? Even if you don’t, check out the debut 7″ from the cleverly-named Wolfmanhattan Project, whose members include Kid Congo Powers (The Cramps, The Gun Club), Mick Collins (The Gories, The Dirtbombs) and Bob Bert (Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore). The Wolfmanhattan Project puts a mature spin on typically bratty garage rock; both “Smells Like You” and “You Are My Glue” are the confident sneers of a scorned lover who seems almost ready for revenge. With a touch of soul (like the throwback vocals in “You Are My Glue”) and proto-punk, the simple but driving songs on this 7″ bring back garage rock to where it started: a few dudes in a garage.

The Smells Like You 7″ is out now via In the Red. Keep an eye out for a full-length coming soon.
