The Wharves — “Naz”

by

The only feeling more maniacal and paranoid than searching all over, in vain, for something that’s gone missing is when that thing is a cat. And anyone who’s owned a cat or even just watched one for the weekend can probably agree that cats, many of whom like to nap in the back of linen closets or occasionally jump out the window, seem to relish the psychosis they can cause us.

The Wharves have tapped into the collective neuroses of all cat lovers with the video for “Naz”. The tale of mischievous cat and emotionally devastated owner is a perfect match for The Wharves’ thick, haunting psych-folk. Speaking of– “Naz” may well whet your appetite for more music from this multinational trio (Ireland, UK, France), who cleverly define their smoky folk sound as “mid-fi”. Be sure to check out their Bandcamp and the recently released Naz / My Will single via Upset the Rhythm Records.
