If there was ever a grimy rock ’n’ roll high school where the the football players were really guitar-bearing punks and the cheerleaders were devout groupies, vocalist of The Monsieurs, Andy Macbain, would have certainly been the high school star strutting the halls.

The Monsieurs released High School Star / Jack of Heart 7” on Goodbye Boozy this May, following their 2014 s/t LP release. With the distorted guitar and driving drums characteristic of The Monsieurs and the accompaniment of Macbain’s signature snarls, the 7” is dirty garage-rock in its rawest form. Despite the garage roots, there is still an inexplicable poppy quality that demands “Jack of Heart” to be sung (or screamed?) aloud to.

Though there are just two songs on this release, The Monsieurs pack enough grimy energy into it to make you feel like you haven’t showered in two weeks, done in the most charming way possible through their drive to deliver killer tunes time and time again.
