Went There

THE LOOP @ Arts at the Armory 2.25.16

by

Thursday, February 25th marked another installment of THE LOOP! a monthly singer-songwriter showcase curated by Max Bailey. The event takes place in Somerville at the Arts at the Armory on Highland Ave. This quaint café offers the perfect atmosphere for an intimate show between the audience and the performers–and you can get PBR there so that marks a plus in my book.

With February marking the high-point of cold season, a few of the performers were unable to play but it did not take away from the showcase. The first performer GRAEME HARCOURT, who was accompanied by a cello player, noted he was playing a lot of new songs which were light with engaging lyrics. Up next was the authority of the discovery process JAMES DISCOVERS armed with his guitar. James Discovers offered a one-of-a-kind performance by not only experimenting with the tropes of pop music through his riveting tunes but also presenting an educational speech about the creative process. Following up was TOM MAROON who offered insightful commentary to his music–for the song below he noted it was about when you go to the beach with someone and then end up hating them by the end of the visit. RACHEL RAVEN, who was also hosting the evening, played next. Her unique voice has a dreamy vibe which enhances the imagery within her lyrics. Ending the night was DANN RUSSO, who had fun tunes and banter with the audience, ending the night on a high note. Overall this was a great night leaving everyone with fun times and good vibes. Enjoy clips from these performances in the video below.

Mark your calendars for the next LOOP on March 24th from 7:30pm – 10:30pm hosted again by Rachel Raven. Also be on the lookout for future events from these fantastic performers. James Discovers and Tom Maroon will be playing at Out of the Blue Gallery on March 22nd.
