The King Khan & BBQ Show — “Illuminations”

by

If you like your rock n’ roll pure and undiluted, influenced mainly by the pre-hippie era of rock n’ roll, soul, and doo wop, then by now you must be familiar with at least some of the many aliases and projects of the great King Khan & BBQ. The Quebecois duo has, with the exception of a brief hiatus a few years back, been churning out albums and EPs of instant classics on the regular since 2002, and were active together in other outfits before that going back over 20 years now.

In advance of their upcoming gig at the Middle East, the Hassle is happy to bring you “Illuminations”, a track off this year’s Bad News Boys LP. The formula remains unchanged and unbeatable. Dual guitars, infectious harmonies, primitive drumming, and ridiculous costumes are all these dudes need to tap directly into your rock n’ roll soul. Well, that and apparently puppets. Creepy creepy puppets. Check the video below. It’s edited and shot by Stuart Simpson, who also acted as puppetmaster along with Nick Kocsis.
