The Art of Alfred Hitchcock

12/2-12/27 @MFA

by

“Good evening.” Come on down to the MFA throughout the month to watch one of cinema’s unparalleled visionaries of the macabre. Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense, gave us some of the most hair raising set pieces ever put to celluloid, scenarios we would never have thought as being the slightest bit sinister – only he did. Whether it be a crop duster flying toward Cary Grant, a woman enjoying a relaxing shower alone, a flock of birds casually landing on a jungle gym or Jimmy Stewart harmlessly looking at his neighbor’s home through his camera lens. But these are just some of the maestro’s oeuvre, other iconic films like Shadow of a Doubt, Suspicion, Rebecca, Strangers on a Train, Rope and Vertigo will be on hand and screening to your voyeuristic heart’s content. Witness all of them on the big screen, as they were meant to be seen.
