Tetrolugosi — “The Milky Way”

TETROLUGOSI are a theatrical gothic synth duo from Ripatransone in central Italy. The pair are composed of Camillo Perazzoli on keys, organ, bass, guitar, and vocals and Sara Paradisi on keys, organ, theremin, and vocals. The take on dark 1980s post-punk tropes found on the band’s self-recorded, self-released, and self-titled debut album is fraught with romanticism and yearning and ethereal gloom. The lyrics are enigmatic and surreal. It makes a perfect soundtrack for the interminable dragging on of the last few weeks of winter.

“The Milky Way,” their second video release for the album, is a simple clip edited together from some repurposed satellite images of earth and the machines which orbit it. The song’s lyrics paint a picture of our planet as a lonely, claustrophobic place in which there are “no aliens from Mars—no signs from outer space,” and the video sells that feeling perfectly. Put on your best all-black outfit, smear on as much eyeliner as you can, and sink into Tetrolugosi’s singular atmosphere.

Tetrolugosi’s self-titled album is available now on bandcamp.
