From Behind is the new flexi from Ithaca’s Sunken Cheek – member of ACHC greats like Japanese Furnace and Hunger Pains – out now on Soft Exit. This newest release finds Sunken Cheek’s particular brand of experimental/noise expanding further its vision of industrial music. While on earlier releases industrial influence existed more as a means to give more space to his spectral rhythmic noise environments, From Behind births an industrial clatter that creates the environment. Here noise becomes textural while the lurching, fumbling metallic sounds and garbled vocals create an atmosphere of unease, an examination of anxiety and alienation. The dense swirl of sound produces something both deeply personal and universal. Recommended listening.
