Reduce, constrain, and liberate. Our first taste of Steve Moore‘s latest finds the synth-composer reigning in his maximal tendencies. This paradoxically frees up the essential parts of his aural world. Rather than blasting off with the prog leanings of his Goblin-loving Zombi project, “Deep Time” finds Moore giving the listener more room to interact with each sound.

Like some lost Chain Reaction transmission, “Deep Time” toys with the classic rhythms of dub and minimal techno to create something deceptive and otherworldly. What makes “Time” stand out amongst Moore’s other tracks is its humility. Though possibly cosmic and transcendent in intent, this track aims first at the mind, then the body, offering nothing but simple repetition and a joyously nonchalant build.
