Wanna Be Slug Bugs? I kinda do! I can’t find a whole lot of info on this Columbus-based Casiopunk four-piece, but I like what I’m hearing. Here’s what I can tell you . . .
The members of Slug Bugs are named Guitar Hero, Banana, Drum Machine, and Winston. Their entire demo blows by in under six minutes, including the campy intro and samples. Like their Ohio synth-punk forebears Devo, they bring a sense of irreverent fun to the proceedings. They are fond of leopard print, studs, and the color pink. The vocals have a snarled degeneracy to them which render the lyrics completely incomprehensible. The guitar tone is nasty and distorted to the max. I get the feeling these kids would put on a really entertaining live show.
